It concerns a warehouse of more than 17,000 m2 at Schiphol Trade Park in Hoofddorp, jointly developed with and built by Aan de Stegge Twello. GEFCO Forwarding is the first tenant to occupy this building.

Two units of logistics business space

The warehouse consists of two units, of which the first unit of more than 9,300 m2 is leased to GEFCO Forwarding. This globally operating logistics service provider focuses on complete supply chain solutions for various industries. Given its location near Schiphol, this new warehouse is very suitable for their international activities.

In addition to the GEFCO unit, a second part of more than 7,800 m2 is available. Due to the various facilities, such as the possibility for refrigeration, the optimal safety of goods and the proximity to the airport, the location is suitable for various industries. Think of the pharmaceutical industry and companies that work a lot with air freight.

Sustainable and future-proof

The new building will receive the BREEAM Excellent certificate, which means that many ways have been put in place to make the building sustainable and future-proof. The use of energy and materials is monitored, for example, so that adjustments can be made where necessary to make it more efficient. Heat and cold storage is used, energy consumption is low, and a sustainable lighting plan has been used with as much daylight and LED light as possible.

Hielke Hager, Country Manager GEFCO Benelux :

“This new warehouse fits in well with our aim to locate GEFCO in the most accessible locations. In addition, the building must offer the facilities that our customers need for their supply chain. In addition to general cargo, the warehouse also offers the possibility to store Life Science and Healthcare products under different temperature conditions, including +2°C - +8°C, +15°C - +25°C. This new SEGRO premises at Schiphol Trade Park gives us exactly what we need to optimally provide our services to our customers.”

Eelco Ouwerkerk, Head of SEGRO Netherlands:

“As an investor and developer, we set strict requirements for our real estate to ensure that all our developments ensure that we can offer our customers future-proof real estate. Sustainability receives a lot of attention and the choice of location also plays an important role. We always focus on places that offer the market many opportunities in terms of accessibility and infrastructure.”

Marco van der Laan, director Aan de Stegge Twello:

“Aan de Stegge Twello's philosophy with regard to building quality and innovation is completely in line with SEGRO's vision for the future. Together we have built a building that tenants can use in all directions.”

For SEGRO, the completion of SEGRO Logistics Center Schiphol is the next step in the company's business strategy in the Netherlands. Recently, the construction of two warehouses at SEGRO Park Amsterdam Airport (SPAA) was completed, each of approximately 10,000 m2. Work is now continuing on the preparations for the new SPAA developments towards the A4/A5.

SEGRO is advised by 1530 Real Estate when renting out SEGRO Logistics Center Schiphol.
