The 192,000 sq ft facility has been leased to DHL, the world’s leading logistics company, on a ten-year lease, bringing the total space pre-let to DHL at SLP-EMG close to 900,000 sq ft.

This most recent deal comes after an agreement for lease for a 694,000sq ft unit was signed during early summer 2020. Both units will be completed to the high sustainability level of BREEAM Excellent.

Once complete, over half of the potential 6 million sq ft of accommodation will have been developed, creating a vibrant and active logistics park with a diverse mix of customers, including Games Workshop, XPO Logistics, Amazon and Kuehne+Nagel.

Andrew Pilsworth, SEGRO’s Business Unit Director, National Logistics, said:

“The latest addition with DHL at SLP-EMG continues to highlight the demand for modern, sustainable space that is supremely well located.

“We have now contracted over half the available space, securing inward investment and creating jobs across the region. There’s a vibrant atmosphere on site and it’s good to see the high levels of activity of our customers during these uncertain times.”

The on-site rail terminal, operated by Maritime, is fully operational with trains transporting goods across the UK linking other strategic rail freight interchanges and major UK ports such as Southampton, Felixstowe, London Gateway and the Channel Tunnel.

Since construction began on the site in 2017, SEGRO has invested £100m in earthworks, upgrading transport and road infrastructure, including building a new by-pass around the local village of Kegworth, reducing the amount of traffic moving through the village. Once the site is fully developed, over 7000 direct jobs will have been created. Those working on site have free access to the 24/7 electric shuttle bus to transport them from the train or bus station to site.

SEGRO Logistics Park East Midlands Gateway is located in the centre of England, directly next to East Midlands Airport, with Nottingham 13 miles to the north-east, Leicester 20 miles to the south and Derby 14 miles to the north west which brings the benefit of a three city labour supply with one million people within a 30 minute drive.
