Celebrating Three Years Of Impact: Be Part Of The Change
This year marks the third anniversary of SEGRO’s Slough Community Investment Plan (CIP), launched in 2022.
When businesses champion community well-being, they lay the foundations for resilience, trust and mutual growth. SEGRO's community plan focuses on investing in education, employment and the environment.
Thanks to the dedication of 46 customers, suppliers and countless SEGRO employees who have contributed their time and expertise, the Slough CIP has delivered tangible, inspiring results:
- Over 12,000 students inspired about the world of work
- Over 200 local unemployed people supported with employment training
- 18 community environmental projects completed
These achievements speak to what we can accomplish together – and we’re just getting started.
Be part of the change
Volunteering is one of the most powerful ways to give back. Whether providing work experience for a young person, supporting unemployed people into careers and long-term independence, or revitalising community spaces, your time can make a real difference.
In collaboration with and fully supported by our community partners, Learning to Work, Viva Slough and Groundwork South there are many ways you can get involved.
No matter your availability, whether it’s an hour, a day, or more, there’s a role for everyone.
Join us in building a stronger, more inclusive community.

Spotlight on Engineering: A case study
In June, in partnership with Learning to Work, we hosted Spotlight on Engineering, a dynamic event that brought year 12 students from local schools face-to-face with the world of engineering,
With the support of volunteers from John Crane, Gratte Brothers and Windsor Forest Colleges Group, the event offered students a hands-on, immersive experience that highlighted the creativity, diversity and real-world impact of engineering careers.
One student said: “I wanted to share how worthwhile and enjoyable the SEGRO Engineering Insight Day was. One of the standout moments was the LEGO city-building activity — We had just five minutes to plan, build, and then redesign our city, which made it both fast-paced and fun. It was a great team-building challenge that encouraged quick thinking and creativity.”
To guide future initiatives, we’ve developed our Community Impact Playbook, a step-by-step guide for delivering effective and measurable community investment.
In addition to taking part in SEGRO’s Community Investment Plan, if your Slough site is interested in using its volunteering time to support the local community, we recommend reaching out to Slough Business Community Partnership (SBCP) — a non-profit organisation that has successfully coordinated SEGRO’s Day of Giving for many years. SBCP offers a wide range of volunteer opportunities, helping us make a meaningful impact across various parts of the community.
This is a great way to engage with local needs, such as supporting school and charity sites through gardening, redecoration projects, and more. SBCP facilitates the entire volunteering process — from matching your site with suitable opportunities to providing hands-on support — ensuring a smooth and rewarding experience.
They offer flexible membership options, ranging from 1 to 25 activities per year, based on your site’s capacity and interests.
