With the new building, the portfolio developed within the Bologna Interport rises to 258,000 sqm

SEGRO, a leading owner, manager and developer of modern logistics and industrial real estate and data centers, has built and delivered a logistics property of approximately 23,700 m2 located within the Bologna Interport to a world-leading international shipping company.

Developed according to a built-to-suit approach, the new hub has been designed to meet the customer’s specific needs, combining high standards of operational and technological efficiency with particular attention to the quality of space. In fact, the building integrates advanced solutions for the automated management of flows and goods, to support sorting and handling activities.

The complex includes a warehouse, an office building developed on three floors and an access area equipped with guardhouses dedicated to the management and control of incoming and outgoing flows.

To complete the project, the property is equipped with an 800 kWp photovoltaic system, which can improve its energy efficiency and help reduce operational carbon emissions.

Particular attention has been paid to the quality of the work environment and the well-being of people, through the creation of areas designed to offer comfort and encourage moments of pause and refreshment. The project also includes services specifically dedicated to drivers, with a relaxation area equipped with a kitchen and laundry, designed to provide a comfortable and functional environment during their stay inside the hub.

The attention to sustainability of the project also extends to the outdoor spaces, developed as part of the BiodiverCity program dedicated to the enhancement of biodiversity. The intervention involves the planting of selected tree and shrub species to encourage the repopulation of fauna, as well as the creation of green areas available to people.

The delivery of the new property increases SEGRO's presence within the Bologna Interport, where the company now has a portfolio of approximately 258,000 m² in this logistics hub of strategic importance for Italy.

Luca Sorbara, Managing Director, Italy, at SEGRO, commented:

"SEGRO has designed this development specifically based on the operational needs of this major international shipping company, with spaces that enable the integration of technologies for the automation of flows and services dedicated to the people who work in the hub and those who visit it. This intervention is part of a total portfolio of over 1.5 million m2 in Italy, which has contributed to the national logistics sector, accompanying the demand for modern, efficient and sustainable spaces, with the aim of creating strategic logistics infrastructures capable of contributing to the economic growth of the country."
