SEGRO and Decathlon continue their partnership at SEGRO Park Gliwice, Einsteina
SEGRO, a leading owner, developer and manager of modern warehouse and production space, has extended its lease agreement with Decathlon at SEGRO Park Gliwice, Einsteina. The building, with an area of over 32,000 sq m, has been used by the world's largest sports retailer as a warehouse since 2012.
Decathlon, founded in France in 1976, is a global leader in the sports industry, with over 1,700 stores in 72 countries and more than 100,000 employees. The company aims to make sport accessible to everyone by promoting an active lifestyle. It is also committed to environmental protection, including reducing CO2 emissions by 20% by 2026 and reducing excess packaging.
A leader in the sports industry, it began working with SEGRO in Poland in 2011, initially using warehouse space at SEGRO Logistics Park Gliwice, becoming one of the first customers at this location. In 2012, the company moved its operations to a modern facility at SEGRO Park Gliwice, Einstein. The warehouse serves as one of Decathlon's central logistics hubs, serving stores and online sales in southern Poland and foreign markets. In addition, a product collection point for retail customers operates at this location.
The 32,000 sq m modern warehouse was designed and constructed in accordance with Decathlon’s expectations, taking into account non-standard solutions tailored to their needs. The facility meets high quality standards, and further improvements to the building's parameters are planned in the coming years, including the installation of photovoltaic panels.
Maciej Badora, Operational Logistics Manager, Decathlon:
“SEGRO Park Gliwice, Einsteina is a key location for us, from which we have been serving the Polish and Czech markets for over a decade. Our partnership with SEGRO not only allows us to manage our operations efficiently, but also to fulfil our environmental commitments through the use of solutions that support sustainable development. We believe that this cooperation will continue to develop, opening up new opportunities for us in the future.”
Bartosz Michalski, Director, Logistics, Poland, SEGRO:
“We are proud that Decathlon, a global leader in the sports industry, remains one of our long-standing customers. The extension of the lease agreement is proof that our facilities meet the highest quality standards and respond to the needs of this dynamically growing company. We are delighted to be able to support Decathlon in their business development by providing space that promotes both operational efficiency and sustainable development.”
SEGRO Park Gliwice, Einsteina is one of SEGRO's parks in Poland, conveniently located with easy access to major transport routes such as the A1 and A4 motorways. The park offers modern warehouse and production space, excellent access to the city centre and cargo airport, and additional benefits resulting from its location in the Special Economic Zone. The facility is located in Poland's largest agglomeration, with a population of over 2 million, which includes, apart from Gliwice, cities such as Zabrze, Ruda Śląska, Świętochłowice, Chorzów and Katowice. Thanks to this location, SEGRO's customers have, among other things, easy access to a qualified workforce.
