Getir will employ around 10 people at the 2,500 sq ft unit located on Yeovil Road, which will be used as a fulfilment centre, enabling the company to reach customers and deliver orders in the Slough area.

Karthik Harith, Head of Expansion UK for Getir, said:

“We are thrilled to be serving the Slough area and be at the heart of where our customers are.

“We deliver a wide range of groceries to a customer's front door in approximately 10 minutes from when an order is placed on our app. This helps to save valuable time and all deliveries are made using ebikes and escooters, which means that local roads will likely see a drop in diesel and petrol car trips as we make our deliveries.”

James Craddock, Managing Director, Thames Valley, at SEGRO, said:

“For over 100 years the Slough Trading Estate has been a home for a diverse mix of customers. The types of companies operating from here have evolved over the years as demands from consumers and businesses change. We’re pleased that Getir considers the Trading Estate as a great location to include in its UK expansion, and we’re confident it will provide a valuable new grocery delivery option for the people of Slough.”

Earlier this year, Getir signed a five-year lease for a 3,000 sq ft space at SEGRO Park Acton – a popular location due its location within the West London market. Founded in 2015 in Istanbul, Getir operates in 61 cities in Turkey, and launched in London in January 2021.

Over one third of the Slough Trading Estate is less than 10 years old, with only a 2.7% vacancy rate and the remainder being leased to a mix of small and large businesses, across a diverse range of industry sectors. Local amenities including high street banks, fitness facilities and healthcare centres are all within easy reach on the estate, creating a vibrant business community for customers.

In the UK, Getir has created over 2,000 permanent jobs, all paid above the real living wage, which will increase to more than 3,000 by the end of 2021 and an estimated 10,000 by the end of 2022. The company has covered 3.4 million miles on e-bikes and e-mopeds across nine major UK cities. If a third of these trips replaced customers walking to a local shop or using public transport, this will have taken over two million miles of petrol and diesel trips off UK city roads, making them safer, quieter and less polluted.
