On Friday December 1st 2017, SEGRO employees took part in the sponsored ‘Big Sleep Out’ in support of ending homelessness in Slough and surrounding areas.

Employees braved the cold and spent the night outdoors at the Hillingdon Athletics Stadium, Uxbridge, raising over £5,000 for Trinity Homeless Projects and Slough Homelessness Our Concern (SHOC).

Trinity provides day services, housing, coaching, training and work placements and SHOC is a day centre that provides care for the homeless in Slough and those at risk of becoming so. It is the only centre within a 20-mile radius that offers the homeless both crisis care and long term transformational help towards independence.

SEGRO has been a main sponsor of The Big Sleep Out since 2015, with 49 SEGRO employees taking part and raising over £30,000. The SEGRO volunteers gathered at the athletics stadium, along with hundreds of others, and enjoyed live music, street food and entertainment until midnight when the lights went out and the long, cold night began. Many retreated to their solitary boxes to try and get warm and to sleep.

Russell Brand, a keen activist in the fight against homelessness, was in attendance to offer support and promote awareness of homelessness in Slough and neighbouring communities.

David Sleath, Chief Executive Officer, SEGRO, said:

“We are proud to be sponsoring and participating in The Big Sleep Out 2017 for the third year in a row. It is hugely satisfying for SEGRO to know that the funds raised, and with the work of Trinity and SHOC, we are working together to end homelessness in our communities.”

Sue Serret, Head of Fundraising, Trinity, said:

“SEGRO, Trinity and SHOC have worked together over the last three years to raise as much money as possible for The Big Sleep Out. Trinity is delighted to have SEGRO’s support for another year “
