Who is SEGRO?

We create the space that enables extraordinary things to happen.

SEGRO is a leading developer, owner and manager of industrial buildings for large corporates and small businesses including Brompton Bike, Netflix, Royal Mail, London Ambulance Service and Panavision. As a long-term investor, SEGRO prides itself on creating and maintaining good relationships with local stakeholders including residents. For 102 years, we have been working with local communities to bring forward new development schemes, providing training and job opportunities and investing in local good causes and charities. We intend to do the same in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.

Our communities

SEGRO has a proud history of investing in our local communities.

We work with local partners and charities to deliver initiatives to benefit residents: from training and support to help residents secure work, to inspiring school children explore the world of work through career sessions and workshops, and from helping local businesses maximise the supply chain opportunities that our schemes bring to enhancing the environment to support biodiversity and wellbeing in local neighbourhoods.

Why Hackney Wick?

Wick Lane has been home to a range of industrial uses dating back to the mid-1800s. In recent years the buildings on the site have become derelict, unused and unsafe. We believe that the need to regenerate this site, coupled with the rising demand for new urban warehousing as businesses respond to fundamental changes to the way we work, live, and shop, means that new urban warehouses represent a sustainable future for the site, and the natural next step in the evolution of the area.

Since acquiring the site in November 2021, we have made the site safe, secure and been designing a scheme that builds on the industrial heritage of the area and creates a highly sustainable development to support businesses to thrive. To deliver this we have been working closely with an expert project team and representatives from the London Legacy Development Corporation.
