PropTech Direction - SEGRO supports digital transformation
The leading owner, manager and developer of modern warehouse space - SEGRO, has joined the group of founding members of the Proptech Foundation, which brings together the largest real estate companies involved in the digitization of commercial real estate.
SEGRO, which has been analyzing market trends for years and has been implementing innovative technological solutions in its logistics parks throughout Poland, has decided to support the digital transformation and development of the real estate industry even more actively. By joining the Proptech Foundation as a founding member, the developer will participate in the initiatives of organizations such as PropTech Sandbox regarding prototyping and rapid testing of new technologies and solutions, PropTech HUB, i.e. the largest innovation campus in Europe launched in cooperation with the Cambridge Innovation Center, or CRE Transformation Academy - a practical educational program unique in the world.
- The possibility of joining the Proptech Foundation as a founding member is a great honor for us. For years, we have been closely monitoring the process of technological transformations that are taking place on the commercial real estate market, and we actively participate in it by implementing PropTech solutions in our parks. We believe that being in the organization, we will do a lot for innovation in our industry - emphasizes Magdalena Szulc, SEGRO Managing Director for Central Europe.
- The warehouse sector in Poland is undergoing a real revolution. Over the past year, it has become the most attractive and sought-after real estate asset. We observe a similar change in the demand for new technologies and innovations. Warehouses are becoming more and more digitally advanced and this trend will be even stronger in 2021. We are glad that, together with SEGRO, one of the leaders in this industry in Poland and Europe, we will be able to conduct initiatives supporting the further growth of not only the warehouse business, but also help in the development of young Polish technology companies, startups and the entire PropTech ecosystem in Poland - says Bartosz Dobrowolski, Co-Founder Proptech Foundation.
SEGRO knows perfectly well that intelligent warehouses are the future of the logistics market. For several years, the company has been implementing PropTech solutions in its logistics parks, such as an access control system that automatically reads license plates or a media monitoring system in the cloud. As electric vehicles are considered to be the future of the automotive industry, chargers for electric cars and hybrids are also installed in SEGRO parks.
In addition to practical implementations of modern technologies in parks, the developer also invests in market analysis in this area. At the end of 2019, SEGRO completed the report "PropTech in the warehouse market". The key conclusions from the report include the fact that three-fourths of Polish entrepreneurs use this type of solutions, and nearly 90 percent sees the direct benefits of using them in their companies. The most important ones include economic benefits related to cost optimization (60%) and environmental benefits (46%).
