Targets

"In 2008, we made progress against 93 per cent of our sustainability targets. We continue to set challenging targets to drive performance. The progress we have made against our sustainability targets has been independently reviewed each year, since 2005."

2014 Energy Use Targets

  • Construct buildings with 30 per cent better energy efficiency than base build.
  • Improve SEGRO's energy efficiency by 30 per cent.
  • Investigate the feasibility of renewable energy for every development site.
  • Reduce water use in common parts of managed buildings (including our Head Office) and landscaping activities by 20 per cent.
  • Incorporate water efficiency measures and water recycling to reduce mains water use by 20 per cent compared to base build.
  • Reduce the weight of non-hazardous construction and excavation waste to landfill by 70 per cent compared to 2007.
  • Reuse or recycle 80 per cent of non-hazardous construction and demolition waste.

2014 Regeneration Targets

  • Invest in communities where we have a major presence and report the level of investment on an annual basis.
  • Ensure Community Engagement Plans are in place where we have a major presence.

2014 Accessibility Targets

  • For all appropriate new developments and managed estates to have a tailored travel plan.

2009 Health And Safety Targets

  • Maintain a zero fatality rate throughout Group operations.
  • Ensure no health and safety prosecutions or enforcement action throughout Group operations.
  • Audit the Group Health and Safety Management System in the UK.
  • Prepare and issue a comprehensive set of Group-wide Health and Safety Risk Assessments.
  • Build relationships with local Health and Safety Advisers in Continental Europe.
  • Provide online health and safety awareness training to all Continental European employees.

2014 Customer Target

  • Engage with a significant number of customers to improve sustainability, reducing occupier energy and water costs.

2009 Customer Targets

  • To maintain our strong UK customer satisfaction levels through the expected challenging markets in 2009 and 2010, as measured through our 2010 survey.
  • Stay close to Continental European customers, focusing on communication and responsiveness, to improve the overall satisfaction rating of 66 per cent, as measured in the 2008 customer survey.
  • Increase the proportion of Continental European customers rating property management as 'good' or 'excellent' from the 67 per cent figure, as measured in the 2008 customer survey, by making the quality of property management consistent between countries.
  • Make Continental European customers aware of SEGRO's sustainability initiatives.
